My Story

The journey of DUWIK began with my name ''Duleeka Wikum'' shortened to create a brand that reflects both my identity and passion. Though I don’t hold formal gemology qualifications, years of hands-on experience have given me deep knowledge of the trade.

My path into the gem industry started unexpectedly. A good friend, Waruna Chanaka—known as Ithipiso—invited me to explore the world of gemstones as a dealer. At first, I wasn’t particularly curious. But something about it intrigued me, and I started researching on my own. Before I knew it, I was drawn in, realizing this could be the perfect path for me.

I began by exploring uncut stones, fascinated by their raw beauty and hidden potential. Over time, I moved on to polished gemstones, appreciating the artistry and skill behind each transformation. Being Sri Lankan gives me a unique advantage in this industry—Sri Lanka is renowned for its stunning sapphires and has long been a leading source of the world’s most exquisite gemstones.
